Issues that people face living in this biome:
The weather changes in this biome are so different that it may be hard for some people to cope with it.
Endangered and extinct animals and plants:
The chestnut tree became extinct in the 1950s due to an outbreak in a disease which spread through the chestnut trees in the 1930s.
Many animals in the deciduous forest are endangered due to:
1. Habitat destruction by humans
2. Pollution
3. Non-native plants and other species been brought into the biome
What can you do to help:
1. Don't litter
2. Try and reduce the amount of gas is used by using public transport
3. Try to avoid using cleaning products that are toxic
A plant that is important to the environment/humans:
The American Breech tree is very important to humans and the environment because it produces a lot of paper and is also a very good wood to make furniture out of. This plant is important to animals because many of them feed of the nuts it produces.
An animal that is important to the environment/humans:
The American Bald Eagle would probably have to be one of the most important animals because it is the American national symbol. In fact this bird nearly became extinct because of chemical called DDT and it got into the eagles body when they ate the fish that were contaminated. It affected there eggs making there shells very thin and causing them to break during the incubation time. The U.S government made the chemical illegal, thank goodness because then America would not have there national symbol alive.
What are some changes that have occurred in this biome?
In this biome most of the changes are caused by humans:
Acid rain: is caused by industrial and vehicle fumes, these fumes damage leaves which has caused them to produce less fruit.
Cutting trees: trees are cut by humans to create space for agriculture, which has caused many animals with out a home.
What is sustainability?
Sustainability: everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends on our natural environment.
What are some sustainability/environmental problems that threaten this biome?
Many things threaten the deciduous forest. the dangerous things are: development, unsustainable forest practices and climate change.
What are some ways humans are fighting to save this biome?
The conservation of deciduous forest has become a priority to environmental scientists and awareness groups. this is because deciduous forest make up a lot of the forests on the earth. They make sure that the forests are carefully watched and looked after.
What food is produced and who eats it
The deciduous forest produces food such as nut, berries and fruit which grow of the trees and bushes in the forests. The animals are generally the ones who eat this food.
